Heng Wang, MD, PhD, Laboratory Director
Dr. Wang serves as Medical Director of DDC Clinic and Laboratory Director of DDC Clinic Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory. In addition to his medical degree, he has a PhD in biochemistry, along with many years of research experience. As a physician scientist, Dr. Wang has been instrumental in all scientific discoveries in DDC Clinic, from description of new diseases and associated genes, to development of diagnostic and treatment protocols for many genetic conditions.
Baozhong (Bao) Xin, PhD, Technical Director
Dr. Xin has a PhD in molecular biology from the University of Hong Kong. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship in Cancer Genetics at Case Western Reserve University. The unique opportunity and challenge that DDC Clinic presents is what intrigues Dr. Xin most about working at DDC Clinic. He has over 10 years of experience of running the molecular genetic testing lab at DDC Clinic and conducting genetic research to discover new disease-causing genes. He has developed hundreds of molecular testing assays for rare genetic conditions including Sanger sequencing, Next-generation sequencing, and Chromosomal Microarray Analysis.
Christine Wensel, MS, LCGC, Genetic Counselor
Chris graduated with a Master of Science in Genetics from the University of Pittsburgh Genetic Counseling program. She has her certification from the American Board of Genetic Counselors and is licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio. Chris started her career at University Hospitals in Cleveland, joined Tod Children’s Hospital in Youngstown Ohio working there until its closure, and then returned to University Hospitals Case Medical Center gaining experience in almost all clinical specialties. She also has served as a laboratory genetic counselor for prenatal, cytogenetic and molecular genetic laboratories. Chris joined DDC Clinic in 2015.
